Day 22 of Building Crowdwide: I Thought UI Polish Would Be Easy, BUT I WAS WRONGGGGG π
I was building a social media platform for newly created creators and people who want a simple place to post, make communities, or create indie pages to grow.
Crowdwide has an algorithm that shows posts according to users' interests, giving everyone a chance to grow faster!
I'm done with all the core features, and now it's time to polish the UI and make it cleaner, clearer, and more authentic!
I thought it would be a simple task! What do I need to do? Just change the colors and add a few CSS properties!!
BUT I WAS WRONGGGGG... π
While checking the UI deeply, I found places where margins and padding were required, and some places where `border-radius` was destroying the look of the page, especially the profile page.
After noting everything down, I found a few more things to change.
Something New I Learned π‘
EffessDev suggested that I add optimistic UI.
I never thought this was an important part because if the server is working, it hardly takes 1β2 seconds to update. So I always ignored it!
But thanks to EffessDev for pointing this out. I have now fixed this too!!
I was confused about UI and layout improvements, but Odinaka Robert Nnamani, Rosana, and Oleksandr helped me and gave great suggestions!
I changed the sidebar to a separate layer from the feed. Now, when it opens, the background gets blurred and slightly dimmer.
I also removed the gradient background from some places, but kept it in others because it still feels good there!
And here's a shoutout to the top members of Crowdwide! π
